Lozada, Lakics win T&F events against NW

The Northwestern boys and girls track and field teams both took down Salisbury in last week’s Colonial League matchup.

The Tiger boys picked up a 111-39 win last Tuesday, while the girls side captured a 129-20 victory on Northwestern’s home track.

The Northwestern boys won 12 of the 18 events, including all three relay events against the Falcons. Other than the 100- and 200-meter dashes—which Salisbury’s Jamanni Cruz won—the Tigers won all of the running events. Shane Leh of Northwestern placed first in both hurdle events as a multiple-event winner.

Salisbury’s Steven Lozada placed first in three events: long jump, triple jump and pole vault. Griffin Lakics was the other Falcon first-place winner in the discus event.

The Northwestern girls won all but one event against Salisbury, including five running events in which the Tigers placed first and second in a respective event. All three relay events were won by Northwestern as well.

The Tigers placed first, second and third in five different jumping or throwing events: shot put, discus, javelin, high jump and pole vault. Northwestern’s Mallory Conner took first in two of those events (shot put and discus). Salisbury’s Annalise Shelly placed first in the long jump as the Falcons’ lone event winner.

Results from Tuesday’s meet against Catasauqua were not available at time of press. Salisbury will host Lehighton next Thursday at 3:30 p.m.
