Terry R. Buckno

Whitehall High School graduate

Terry R. Buckno, 82, died April 6, 2026, at Phoebe, Allentown. He was married to BettyJean (Gray) Buckno for 51 years.

Born in Allentown, he was a son of the late Raymond and Anna (Boycheck) Buckno.

He was a graduate of Whitehall High School. He graduated from Mansfield State College in 1968. While there, he played football and ran track. He was a charter member of Phi Sigma Kappa fraternity. He completed graduate work toward his master’s equivalency at Kutztown University, Marywood College and Penn State University.

He was an English teacher at Dieruff High School for 35 years before retiring in 2003. He was also an assistant wrestling coach under Lehigh Valley Hall of Famer Art Schaeffer. He was the head wrestling coach at Dieruff from 1977 to 1980.

For many years, he attended St. Mary’s Ukrainian Orthodox Church, Allentown. After his marriage, they were members of Lower Saucon United Church of Christ in Hellertown where he taught Sunday school and Confirmation classes.

He also served as the volunteer chairperson for the annual Crop Walk for Hunger Relief from 1982 to 1996. During his tenure, the Hellertown Community raised $67,000.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a twin brother, Raymond of Allentown; a daughter, Kristen Elizabeth Buckno and spouse Karol DiPasquale of Allentown; a son, Matthew Paul Buckno and partner Courtney Cox of Nazareth; four grandchildren, Lillianna, Jude, Bodhi and Coltyn all of Nazareth; three nieces, Lesley Gray and partner Eddie Cooley of Pennsburg, Lauren of Nashville, Tenn., and Suzanne Gray of Winston-Salem, N.C.; a nephew, Joshua of Washington, DC; two great-nieces, Kassie Gray of North Carolina and Grace Cooley of Pennsburg; a great-nephew, Konor Gray of North Carolina; a great-great-nephew, Waylon Seal; and a great-great-niece, Addie Seal.

He was predeceased by a daughter, April; and a nephew, Eric Gray.
