Elmer C. Long, 87, of Emmaus, died April 4, 2026. He was the husband of Nancy (Shollenberger) Long.

Born in Alburtis, he was the son of Elmer E. and Vivian Long.

A 1956 Emmaus High School graduate, he earned degrees from Kutztown University in 1960 and the University of Maryland School of Medicine in 1966.

He served as a major in the U.S. Army.

He completed his internship at Allentown Hospital and his pediatric residency in San Antonio, Texas. Following his Army discharge in 1971, he returned to Allentown and practiced pediatric medicine for many years.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children, Jennifer Strobl with Rodney, Kara Kroh with Eric and Thomas with Tammy; eight grandchildren, Jessa with fiancé John, Taylor, Thomas, Trenton, Kevin with Shalease, Justin, Jared with Alexis and Cassidy; three great-grandchildren, KJ, Saj and Harper; a brother, James with Barbara and their children, Michelle and Eric; and a sister, Judy Watson with Jon and their daughter, Kris.

He was predeceased by a son, Tyler D.

Services will be private.
