John D. Costa, 68, of Cogan Station, Lycoming County, formerly of Emmaus, died March 31, 2026, at the home of his daughter, Jan M. Costa in New Tripoli. He was the husband of Anita M. (Gerkovich) Costa, to whom he was married 38 years. Born in Allentown, Oct. 15, 1957, he was the son of the late Joseph G. and Joyce (Brinker) Costa.
He worked in the Public Works Department for the Borough of Emmaus for 33 years before retiring in 2021. Prior to that, he owned and operated the former John Costa’s Seamless Gutters. He served on the board of directors of Ranger Rod & Gun Club, Coplay. He cherished his family, finding his greatest joy in the moments spent together and the love they shared.
In addition to his wife, Anita, he is survived by daughters, Jan M. Costa-Modrich and husband Brad Modrich of New Tripoli, Kristina J. Costa-Schwartz and husband A.J. of Allentown, and Caitlin A. Costa-Schappell and husband Kyle of Cogan Station; six brothers; one sister; four grandchildren.
He is predeceased by a brother, Jimmy.
A celebration of life was held April 6, at Ranger Lake, Coplay. The Heintzelman Funeral Home Inc., Schnecksville, was entrusted with the arrangements. Online expressions of sympathy may be recorded at www.heintzelmancares.com.
