Community gathers for VFW meat raffle and veterans tribute

Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8282 hosted a March meat raffle on March 28, drawing community members to its social hall at 1522 Butz Road, Breinigsville.

The event ran from 3 to 6 p.m., with doors opening at 2 p.m.

Tickets were available by donation at $2 each or three for $5, with purchases made through the canteen.

Participants were required to be present to buy tickets and to claim prizes, which were awarded throughout the afternoon.

In addition to the regular raffles, attendees had the chance to win a $50 door prize, drawn at 5 p.m.

Three special meat raffles were also held during the event.

Refreshments were provided.

A highlight of the afternoon was the “Flames of Remembrance” ceremony at 5 p.m., held to express gratitude to veterans and members in attendance.

Post Commander Chris Chase noted that this was the first March meat raffle hosted by the post in many years, marking a return of a popular tradition.
