Upper Milford Township motorist dies in Lower Macungie Township crash

An Upper Milford Township motorist was fatally injured when his vehicle crashed into a traffic sign along Interstate 78 near mile marker 54.1 in Lower Macungie Township early in the morning March 12, according to authorities.

Tealson L. Herrlin, 18, was pronounced dead 6:12 a.m. in the emergency department at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township, according to a press release from the coroner’s office.

An autopsy March 13 determined the cause of the death to be multiple blunt force trauma. The manner of death was determined to be an accident.

Pennsylvania State Police Fogelsville outlined the crash as follows:

At approximately 5:13 a.m. troopers were dispatched to I-78 for a vehicle in a ditch. An investigation determined the gray 2005 Ford Mustang, driven by Herrlin, was westbound near mile marker 54.1 when the vehicle struck a traffic sign, also described as a fixed object and went into a ditch off the right side of the road.

Cetronia Ambulance also responded and the driver was taken from the crash to Lehigh Valley Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

No other occupant of the vehicle was mentioned by authorities in press releases dated March 12 and March 13.

Lower Macungie Fire Department and Yocum’s Towing also responded.

Investigators also include the Lehigh County District Attorney Office, according to authorities.
