North Catasauqua: Seniors, veterans expo scheduled for April 10 in Whitehall

Residents are invited to attend a seniors and veterans expo, scheduled for 9 a.m.-noon April 10 at St. Luke’s Sports Center, 3323 Seventh St., Whitehall. Local agencies and health care organizations will be available to share resources, information and health screenings for attendees.

No RSVP is needed, and all are welcome to attend.

The expo is sponsored by state Sen. Nick Miller, D-14th, and state Rep. Jeanne McNeill, D-133rd.

Historic Catasauqua Preservation Association is sponsoring a pierogi sale. Pierogies are homemade potato and cheese made at St. John Roman Catholic Fisher Church, 1229 Third St. There is a cost per dozen.

The deadline for orders is April 10. Orders can be picked up 2-6 p.m. April 17 in the lower-level church hall. Payment in the form of cash or check made payable to HCPA is due at the time of pickup.

Catasauqua American Legion Post 215, 330 Second St., will hold a breakfast 8-11 a.m. April 12. Order all of your breakfast favorites off the menu, including pancakes, creamed chipped beef on toast, omelets and more.

The breakfast is open to the public, and all are welcome.

St. Mary’s Catholic Church will hold cash bingo April 19 in the parish center. The doors and kitchen will open 11:30 a.m., with bingo beginning 1 p.m.

There is a cost, which includes 15 games, seven specials and one jackpot round. Bring your daubers, but no hardboards.

No outside food or drinks are permitted. The kitchen will be selling your favorites.

The next North Catasauqua Borough Council meeting will take place 7 p.m. April 20 in the basement-level meeting room at borough hall, 1066 Fourth St.

Catasauqua Garden Club is sponsoring a field trip to Winterthur Gardens April 23. The bus leaves 8:30 a.m. from Catasauqua Park and Playground, 501 American St., and will return 5:30 p.m.

Explore the stunning Winterthur Gardens, including daffodil fields, bluebell carpets, etc., and a guided tour of the mansion’s fine collection of American decorative arts. Participants will also visit the Brandywine Art Museum. Lunch will not be provided.

Salem United Church of Christ, 615 Third St., Catasauqua, will hold a flea market and basket raffle, scheduled for 9 a.m.-1 p.m. April 25. The event will feature flea market bargains, a basket raffle and a lot of good food for sale.

The J4 Committee will hold a basket raffle and bingo April 25 at Catasauqua American Legion Post 215. Doors open noon, and bingo begins 1 p.m.

Tickets include 15 games and cash prizes. Special games are at an additional cost. The kitchen will be open, and there will be a cash bar.

T-shirts will also be sold at the event as an additional fundraiser.

St. John Fisher Roman Catholic Church is sponsoring a Kauffman’s barbecue takeout chicken dinner, with pickup scheduled for 4:30-5:30 p.m. April 29 in the church parking lot. The dinner includes half of a chicken, baked potato, coleslaw and cookies.

There is a cost.

Order forms are available at the church, to be included with your payment, or you may order by calling the church office at 610-264-1972. Orders are due by April 17.

The borough will hold an electronics recycling event, for residents only, 4-6 p.m. May 12 at the public works complex, 1460 Main St. Participants are asked to remain in their car.

Cash or checks only are accepted. Have exact change or a check prepared. Checks should be made payable to Responsible Recycling Services or RRS.

Many items can be recycled free of charge, but there is a fee for some.

Save the date for the annual North Catasauqua Community Day, set for 5-8 p.m. May 29 at North Catasauqua William J. Albert Memorial Park, 701 Grove St. This is a chance to meet local police officers, see some awesome demonstrations, grab great food and enjoy a day with the community at the park.

Bring your family, friends, an appetite and community spirit. The event is hosted by North Catasauqua Police Association.

Holy Trinity Memorial Lutheran Church will be holding the annual junior Victorian tea and basket raffle 2-4 p.m. May 31, with the doors opening 1:30 p.m. for the basket raffle. There will be kid-friendly beverages, desserts, activities and door prizes.

Adults must be accompanied by a child. Dads, sons and grandsons are welcome, too.

There is a cost. Space is limited.

Borough residents are invited to join the newly established North Catasauqua pet registry because every tail deserves to find its way home!

Register your pet’s name, photo and your contact information with the borough office. If your furry friend ever decides to go on an unplanned adventure, this will help the borough to get them home. Pet information will not be shared outside of the police department and borough staff.

If your pet is microchipped, take the time to register their chip. Your vet can help you with the process of registering the microchip.
