Class of 2028 hosts cash bingo April 19

As the spring season continues, Salisbury High School is creating opportunities for students through career exploration, community service and schoolwide events. Throughout April, students are encouraged to get involved in activities that support themselves and the community.

SHS is offering juniors and seniors the chance to take the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery test April 8. This free assessment provides valuable insight into students’ strengths and potential career paths. While often associated with military pathways, the ASVAB is a useful tool for any student considering their future, whether that includes college, trade programs or entering the workforce.

Salisbury’s Key Club continues to demonstrate its commitment to service through its recent canned food drive. The club has successfully collected an impressive 1,038.7 pounds of food, surpassing its initial goal. This accomplishment reflects the generosity and dedication of both the club members and the wider student body. Food pickup is scheduled for April 8, marking the conclusion of a highly successful food drive.

Looking ahead, the Class of 2028 is hosting a cash bingo fundraiser April 19 in the Salisbury Middle School cafeteria. Doors will open 11:30 a.m., with games beginning 1 p.m. Tickets are available for individual games or a bundle that includes 20 games and five special rounds. Payments can be made in advance via Venmo (@Tricia-Dickert), and attendees are asked to include their reservation name with payment. With a wide variety of prizes available, organizers are encouraging community members to attend and support the event.

Another major event this month is the spring blood drive, sponsored by National Honor Society, which will take place 11:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. April 22 in the auxiliary gym. Students who are at least 16 years old, in good health and weigh over 110 pounds are eligible to donate.

The event offers students and community members the opportunity to make a meaningful impact by helping those in need of blood donations. Students can sign up during lunch or by contacting one of the student coordinators or Mrs. Basile.

With a strong focus on service, opportunity and community involvement, SHS continues to provide students with experiences that extend beyond the classroom. From career readiness to giving back, these April initiatives highlight the school’s commitment to helping students grow, connect and make a difference.
