McClary retires as BC head coach

Scott McClary’s time on Bethlehem Catholic’s sidelines has come to an end, as the veteran basketball coach announced his retirement recently.

McClary coaches eight seasons for the Hawks, compiling a 120-76 mark, including two District 11 championships and an EPC title in 2022.

“I could not have been more blessed than to have spent these last eight years of my coaching

career at Bethlehem Catholic,” said McClary. “While it is so easy to feel proud of what we accomplished on the court with the wins and the championships, it pales in comparison to how proud I am of what kind of young men graduated out of our program every year.”

McClary has been a basketball lifer, being an assistant at Central Catholic and national program DeMatha Catholic in Hyattsville, Maryland. He was also the head coach at Muhlenberg College for eight years and spent time at Bishop O’Connell and Coastal Carolina.

In his 37 years as a coach, he’s been apart of 750 wins, 400 of which as a head coach.
