Building on that long- standing relationship with Lehigh Valley Hospital, EverTrue Lutheran Home at Topton residents are “stuffing the bus” with donated goods to support the Hackerman-Patz House, a hospitality home located on the campus of Lehigh Valley Hospital – Cedar Crest in Salisbury Township.
Residents were scheduled to deliver the goods March 16.
The house provides affordable lodging and supportive accommodations for families of patients receiving emergency and routine care.
The new initiative began after residents delivered stuffed animals – assembled during a community volunteer event – and toured the Hackerman-Patz House.
Recognizing the house operates solely through donations and community support, residents voted unanimously to expand their efforts to assist with additional needs.
Residents collected donations of blankets, personal care items, nonperishable food and essential paper goods such as paper towels, toilet paper, paper plates, cups and utensils.
Then they “stuffed the bus” – an EverTrue community bus – with the donations and delivered them to the Hackerman-Patz House.
Residents are enthusiastic about the expanded initiative and look forward to continuing their partnership with Lehigh Valley Hospital and the Hackerman-Patz House.
