Assault arrests

A 35-year-old male, of Kutztown, was taken into custody March 20 after officers responded to Lehigh Valley Hospital, South Cedar Crest Boulevard, for the male having an active arrest warrant for a drug violation. The male allegedly resisted arrest and fought with officers, including spitting at an officer and in the back of the police patrol car when taken into custody. He also allegedly made violent threats. Charges against the male include alleged felony assault on a law enforcement officer, misdemeanor terroristic threats and misdemeanor disorderly conduct in addition to the original arrest warrant, according to Salisbury police.

A 48-year-old male, of Hellertown, was taken into custody March 23 and charged with misdemeanor simple assault, misdemeanor harassment and misdemeanor disorderly conduct in the parking lot of Giant, South Mall, 3300 Lehigh St., according to Salisbury police. “The male, who was not provoked, allegedly walked up to a random vehicle and began striking the vehicle followed by punching the driver of the vehicle,” according to a press release from authorities.

DUI crash

A 23-year-old male motorist, of Quakertown, was arrested for allegedly driving under the influence and a traffic light violation after he drove down an embankment and crashed into a large sign near the entrance to Lehigh Valley Hospital, South Cedar Crest Boulevard, March 21, according to Salisbury police. The crash was detailed as follows: The motorist entered the main driveway of the hospital where he lost control of his pickup truck and went down the embankment. He was towing a trailer at the time of the crash. The motorist was hurt and taken to the hospital for treatment, according to authorities.

Wanted person

A 29-year-old female motorist, of Allentown, was taken into custody on an active arrest warrant for driving under the influence issued by Lehigh County after a traffic stop in the area of the 3000 block of South Pike Avenue March 23, according to Salisbury police.

Drug possession

A 17-year-old Salisbury High School student was charged March 17 with alleged simple possession after being found to be in possession of vape that contained Tetrahydrocannabinol while on school grounds, according to Salisbury police.

A 16-year-old Salisbury High School student was cited for allegedly having a vaping device on school grounds March 24, according to Salisbury police.

PFA violation

A 35-year-old male, with no known address, was charged March 21 with indirect criminal contempt after allegedly violating an active protection from abuse order in the 1200 block of Fretz Avenue, according to Salisbury police.

Disorderly conduct

Staff at Giant, 3300 Lehigh St., South Mall, reported a male entered the store March 19 and was soliciting customers for money. After staff asked the male to leave the store he allegedly began running up and down the aisles. When police arrived the male had already left the store. On March 20, officers found the male after he returned to the store and police were called. The male was warned not to return and left the store, according to Salisbury police.

Burning ordinance violation

A resident of the 1300 block of Byfield Street allegedly was burning items including cardboard, leaves and insulation on her property March 17, according to Salisbury police. The incident was referred to the Salisbury Township Fire Inspectors.

Unauthorized use of motor vehicle

A resident of the 800 block of Gilly Avenue loaned his vehicle to a friend who refused to return it, according to Salisbury police. The incident was reported March 19.

Unwanted person

Officers were called to restaurant Taco Bell, 3380 Lehigh St., South Mall, for an unwanted person March 26, according to Salisbury police. Officers assisted in having the unwanted individual leave the restaurant. No arrests were made, according to authorities.

Suspicious

persons

On March 21 police received a report of multiple juveniles attempting to break into parked vehicles in the 1200 block of Taft Avenue, according to Salisbury police. The juveniles allegedly left the area in a red Ford SUV. “Police remind all residents to make sure their vehicle doors are locked and all valuables are removed from their vehicle,” according to authorities.

Home invasion burglary

Officers responded to a residence in the 3200 block of Capital Street for a home invasion burglary March 19, according to Salisbury police. Once at the residence, officers met with a 77-year-old male who had been restrained in his home by two men wearing masks, according to authorities. No injuries were reported.

Illegal dumping

Multiple vehicle tires were illegally dumped in the area of East Emmaus Avenue at Gaskill Avenue March 24, according to Salisbury police. Anyone with information may contact Salisbury police at 610-797-1447.

Hit-and-run

A camper trailer was struck and damaged at a location in the 1700 block of Virginia Avenue, according to Salisbury police. The incident was reported March 22.

Disturbances

Officers were called to a disturbance in the 1700 block of Church Road March 22, according to Salisbury police. No arrests were made.

Officers were called a disturbance in the 300 block of East Wayne Avenue March 22, according to Salisbury police. No arrests were made.

Officers were called to Salisbury High School, 500 E. Montgomery St., for a disturbance between two students March 24, according to Salisbury police. No arrests were made.

Officers were called to a disturbance in the 900 block of East Susquehanna Street March 26, according to Salisbury police. No arrests were made.

Officers were called to the 3200 block of Capital Street March 26 for an unknown male wearing a yellow shirt and two different colored shoes allegedly arguing with neighbors and punching their vehicles after he was confronted for looking inside the vehicles, according to Salisbury police.

Civil issue

On March 22 a resident of an apartment in the 1800 block of East Emmaus Avenue told police that for the last seven years his neighbors have been using an exterior communal power outlet that he is being billed for, according to the Salisbury police. The resident was advised the dispute was a civil issue and he needed to notify his landlord, according to authorities.

Joint traffic safety detail

On March 23 Salisbury Township police officers and Allentown City police officers worked a joint traffic safety speed detail in the 2700 block of South Pike Avenue, according to Salisbury police. The detail resulted in 40 vehicle stops, 41 citations and one wanted person being taken into custody.

Mutual aid

Salisbury officers were requested for mutual aid assistance March 20 in the 800 block of North Clewell Street, Fountain Hill, at a disturbance, according to Salisbury police.

Salisbury officers were requested by Lower Saucon Township Police in Northampton County March 25 to cover calls for service due to the agency being committed on a critical incident, according to Salisbury police. One call for service was handled by Salisbury officers.

School bus

Between March 17 and March 26, a total of two school bus video violations were approved bringing this school year’s total to 198 approved violations, according to Salisbury police.
