North Catasauqua: Thrift shop holds bag sale April 2, closes for holiday April 3, 4
Catasauqua Community Thrift Shop, 113 Bridge St., ends its bag sale April 2. The shop will be closed for Easter April 3 and 4.
Changeover from fall and winter clothing to spring and summer clothing will take place April 6-8. The shop will reopen April 9.
The shop’s regular hours are 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays and 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Wednesdays and Saturdays.
The thrift shop is happy to accept donations of good, used, clean clothing and household items and toys during regular store hours. Proceeds from the thrift shop are returned to the community through contributions that support youth and adult programs and services.
Any donations to the thrift shop must be written to Catasauqua Community Partnership or CCPI due to banking regulations.

St. John Fisher Catholic Church, 1229 Third St., has announced its Holy Week schedule.
An evening mass of the Lord’s Supper will take place 7 p.m. April 2 with adoration at the repository until 10 p.m.
A celebration of the Lord’s Passion will take place 3 p.m. April 3 for Good Friday.
A morning prayer is set for 8 a.m. April 4.
Easter Sunday Mass will take place 10:30 a.m. April 5 with a Divine Mercy Novena after the 10:30 a.m. Mass.

Holy Trinity Memorial Lutheran Church, 604 Fourth St., Catasauqua, has announced services for Holy Week and Easter.
Maundy Thursday services will be noon and 7 p.m. April 2, and the church will be open 11 a.m.-7 p.m. April 3 for a Good Friday self-guided experience of the Stations of the Cross.
There will be 8 a.m. spoken worship, 9 a.m. fellowship and 10:30 a.m. Communion for Easter Sunday April 5.

St. John Fisher Catholic Church and St. Mary’s Catholic Church will hold their blessing of the Easter foods and baskets noon April 4 at St. Mary’s Church, 122 Union St., Catasauqua.
The different foods placed inside the basket have different meanings related to Easter with regard to Easter and Slovakia. One of the main items in the basket is paska, a Slovak bread that is traditionally eaten during Easter. A traditional basket also contains smoked meats, sausage, butter, hrudka (a sweet custard-like cheese), bread, salt, horseradish and pysanky eggs.

Holy Trinity Church will be holding a free community egg hunt event 10 a.m. April 4. The event will be held rain or shine.
An egg hunt will take place for children ages 1-6 years, and bingo will take place for children ages 1-12. An adult must stay with each child.

Historic Catasauqua Preservation Association is sponsoring an April pierogi sale. Pierogies are homemade potato and cheese made at St. John Fisher Church. There is a cost per dozen.
The deadline for orders is April 10. Orders can be picked up 2-6 p.m. April 17 in the lower-level church hall.
Payment in the form of cash or check made payable to HCPA is due at the time of pickup.

The J4 Committee is looking for new members and volunteers to help organize the North Catasauqua/Catasauqua J4 Celebration and Mega Reunion July 4 at Catasauqua Park and Playground, 501 American St. The rain date is July 5.

St. Mary’s Catholic Church will hold cash bingo April 19 in the parish center. The doors and kitchen will open 11:30 a.m., with bingo beginning 1 p.m.
There is a cost which includes 15 games, seven specials and one jackpot round. Bring your daubers, but no hardboards.
No outside food or drinks are permitted. The kitchen will be selling your favorites.

Register your pet’s name, photo and your contact information with the borough office. If your furry friend ever decides to go on an unplanned adventure, this will help the borough to get them home. Pet information will not be shared outside of the police department and borough staff.

The Catasauqua post office, 205 Bridge St., which has been temporarily closed for more than a year and a half due to a ceiling collapse, is tentatively scheduled to reopen this December. Residents are asked to continue to use mail services at other area post offices.

Hop on over to the North Catasauqua small Town USA Little Free Library. Easter books and “special” surprises have been added along with new books for children and adults inside the library just in time for Easter.
The Little Free Library is located at borough hall, 1066 Fourth St. The Little Free Library is available anytime and has books available for all ages.
