Allentown Farmers Market owner

Daniel G. Wuchter Sr., 86, of New Tripoli, died March 26, 2026, at the Inpatient Hospice Unit at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Allentown. He and his wife, Lauren “Laurie” (Kiernan-Boracchia) Wuchter would have celebrated 22 years of marriage Dec. 2. Born in Egypt, Pa., he was the son of the late George L. and Mary (Stein) Wuchter.

He was a graduate of Whitehall High School, Class of 1957 and attended the Cathedral Church of St. Catharine of Siena in Allentown. At age 7, he started selling eggs and chickens door-to-door. In 1955, he and his late brother, Roy, started Dan’s Poultry Market.

He was the originator and founder of Dan’s Rotisserie Chicken that evolved into what is now known as Dan’s BBQ, Danny’s Fine Foods that started in 1963 accompanied by his children, D & L Concessions and the Ritz BBQ, which he and his wife have owned since 2021.

He became the sole owner and operator of the Allentown Fairgrounds Farmers Market in February 1995.

He had a love for all animals which led him to becoming the owner of Mountainview Horse & Cat Rescue.

He was a member of the Slatington Lodge #440 F & AM.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by children, Rose Marie, Barbara Shelly, Daniel G. Jr.; mother of his children, Rosalie (Palmer); sister, Nancy; sister-in-law, Jean; grandchildren, David Clare, Daniel Clare (Kim), Daniel III, Alexis; great-grandchildren, Lily, Daniel and Lucas Clare. He was preceded in death by a nephew, Sean Spengler.

Services will be held 11 a.m. April 7 at Bachman, Kulik & Reinsmith Funeral Home, 17th and Hamilton streets, Allentown. A viewing will be held 5-8 p.m. April 6 and 10-11 a.m. April 7 in the funeral home.
