Betty Jean Chapman, 77, of Allentown and formerly of New York City, died March 20, 2026, in her home. She was the wife of the late Robert Lee Chapman and companion of the late Coleman Vital.

Born in Elizabeth City, N.C., she was a daughter of the late Ralph and Mary Frances (Price) Franklin.

She devoted her life to caring for her family.

She is survived by children, the late Tyrone Franklin, Shaunder Jones, of Scranton, Robert, of New York City, Trina Grant and her husband, Cory with whom she resided, Heavenly Paulling and her husband, Robert, of New York City, Anthony Vital, of New York City; daughter-in-law and “partner-in-crime” Patricia Franklin, of New York City; 15 grandchildren; a host of great-grandchildren; goddaughter, Erica Albert; longtime friend, Roz.

Arrangements are entrusted to the K.V. Knopp Funeral Home, Allentown.
