Bath Borough, Lehigh authority receive grant funds

On Jan. 20, state Sen. Nick Miller, D-14th, announced $5,145,800 from the Multimodal Transportation Fund and Pennsylvania Small Water and Sewer Grant to benefit the area.

Local project funding includes $850,000 from the Multimodal Transportation Fund to improve the roadway at the intersection of Route 512, Route 987 and Barrall Avenue to support a new development in Bath Borough, and $396,804 from the Small Water and Sewer Grant to Lehigh Township Municipal Authority’s standby generators for sewage pump stations and $100,842 to LTMA’s Cherryville public water supply standby generator.

Other Multimodal Transportation Fund recipients include $1,310,000 to construct a parking garage connected to Lehigh Valley International Airport in Hanover Township, Lehigh County; $800,000 to begin construction of an extension of the Martin Luther King Jr. trail in Allentown; $1,000,000 to extend Riverside Drive along the Hamilton Gateway corridor in Allentown; and $106,329 to construct a sidewalk along Dixon and South Delaware streets in Allentown.

Additional Small Water and Sewer Grant recipients include $170,681 for Catasauqua Borough’s Front and Liberty streets drainage improvements; and $411,144 to Salisbury Township’s Linda Lane and Gail Avenue water main replacement.

Total funding includes $4,066,329 from the Multimodal Transportation Fund and $1,079,471 from the Small Water and Sewer Grant.

The Multimodal Transportation Fund and the Small Water and Sewer Grant program provide grants that boost economic development, improve transportation safety and reliability and support essential municipal projects like water, sewer, stormwater management and flood control.

“Strong communities start with strong infrastructure, and these investments in transportation and water will help us strategically improve the 14th District,” Miller said. “By investing in safe roads and reliable water systems, we are investing in the health, safety and future of our neighbors.

“Together, we are funding projects that make life better for our communities,” Miller added.

Earlier this month, Miller announced a $3.96 million Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources investment in Lehigh and Northampton counties. The funding builds on Gov. Josh Shapiro’s 2025-26 budget, which added $13 million for DCNR.
