Godfrey Daniels’ 50th season celebration underway

Godfrey Daniels, one of the United States’ longest-running nonprofit concert venues, is noting its “50th Jubilee Celebration,” marking five decades of music, storytelling and community on Bethlehem’s SouthSide.

The Golden Anniversary culminates within a “Jubilee Event,” May 23, Foy Hall, Moravian University, featuring Larry Campbell and Teresa Williams, an acclaimed Americana duo known for their work with Levon Helm and Bob Dylan.

Larry Campbell and Teresa Williams have been making music together, and building a life together, since 1986.

Campbell, a New York City native known for his virtuosity on stringed instruments, first met Williams, a vocalist and actress from Peckerwood Point, Tenn., in a Manhattan rehearsal studio.

They traveled on the road for concerts in Bob Dylan’s band and performed with Levon Helm at his “Midnight Rambles” in Woodstock, N.Y.

The duo released their self-titled debut in 2015. Their albums Include “All This Time,” “Contraband Love” and “Live at Levon’s.”

A year-long anniversary season honors Godfrey Daniels’ legacy and future.

Founded in 1976, Godfrey Daniels is an 80-seat venue dedicated to presenting local, regional, national and international artists.

The 50th anniversary season includes four anniversary concerts at the Charles A. Brown Ice House, Bethlehem.

The first concert, March 21, headlined Bakithi Kumalo & The South African All Stars. The Grammy Award-winning bassist is renowned for his groundbreaking work on Paul Simon’s landmark album, “Graceland.”

July 10, Sept. 11 and Oct.16 concerts at the Ice House are to be announced.

“We’re celebrating more than an anniversary,” said Ramona LaBarre, Managing Director of Godfrey Daniels.

“For 50 years, Godfrey Daniels has been a place where people gather to truly listen, to music, to stories, and to one another. This Jubilee reflects where we’ve been and looks boldly ahead to the next 50 years,” LaBarre said.

During five decades, Godfrey Daniels has hosted thousands of performances and become a beloved home for artists and audiences alike. Its impact reaches far beyond its walls, supporting generations of musicians, strengthening community connections and preserving a vital part of the region’s cultural fabric.

“The 50th Jubilee is a milestone not just for Godfrey Daniels, but for the entire Lehigh Valley,” said Dave Fry, co-founder of Godfrey Daniels. “It reflects the power of community-supported arts spaces and the lasting role Godfrey Daniels continues to play in our cultural life.”
