Patriots trying to reload this season

Freedom enjoyed a stellar campaign on the diamond last spring, but now they’ve lost a good portion of a team that went 17-7 a year ago.

The Pates were one of the best teams in the EPC last year, but came up short in the league and district semifinals to traditional powers Parkland and Liberty.

Now they look to keep reloading, instead of rebuilding with a fresh crop of players.

Back in the fold for the Pates are Colin Andrews (Sr. P/OF); Darien Serrano (Sr. P/2B); Geo Ledee (Sr. P/2B); Brian Renshaw (Sr. C/1B); Santiago Rodriguez-Rosales (Jr. P/OF); Andras Sarkozy (Sr. P/OF); Evan Plasco (Jr. P/2B); Ryan Curley (Fr. C); Josh Griffith (So. P/OF); Nelson Laubach (So. P/1B/3B); Andres Rivera (Fr. SS); Nate Warren (Sr. OF) and Jackson Yaguez (Sr. P/OF).

“We lost a lot of good players from last years team,” said head coach John Bisco, “but this team has wonderful leadership from the senior class with mature underclassmen who are ready to compete. All of our returners have a great chance at making a name for themselves this year.”

The Pates have had a rough go to start the year, losing to Parkland 10-0 in their opener and Abington Heights 15-5.

They look get on track this week when they take on Nazareth, Pocono Mountain East and Easton.

Despite the slow start, it doesn’t change Bisco’s goals for the season.

“Make the playoffs, win the division and have fun,” said Bisco of the team goals.
