Freedom’s volleyball program is looking to have another competitive spring coming off a 17-5 season, which saw them become district silver medalists.
The Patriots return a group experienced and one that head coach John Yanek is confident in.
“We are deep in the OH and MB positions,” said Yanek. “This will help us as the season progresses. Almost all returning players played club in the off season which has helped strengthen our play. We are committed to eclipsing last year’s record and hardware. We have several players at each position, so competition will be intense, which will only make us stronger.”
Returning players include Ayden Willman (SR, OPP); Dylan Shupp (SR, OH); Ben Soleymani (SR, MB); Carter Richardson (JR, MB) and Amrinder Gill (SR, libero).
Newcomers are Brayden Britland (JR, S); Will Cooper (JR, OH); Pano Hahalis (SR, OH); Quinn Andreoli (JR, L/DS); Oden Stauffer (JR, L/DS); Dane Craven (JR, OH) and Mikherlange Champagne (JR, OH).
“We want to make it to the league tournament get back to the district finals,” said Yanek of the team goals. “I’d also like to see us get to 15 wins.”
The Pates are off to a 2-0 start with wins over Bethlehem Catholic and Southern Lehigh and look to keep rolling this week with matches against Dieruff, Parkland and Delaware Valley.
Freedom's Dylan Shupp is back for the Pates this year.
