Liberty went through a down year last spring in volleyball, but the Hurricanes are looking to make a leap from that 3-11 campaign.
With a strong group of experiences players and a large class of newcomers, the Hurricanes hope this mix can help propel back into the volleyball conversation this season.
Back for the ‘Canes are Frank Benedetto (Senior, OH); Keagan Dougherty (Senior, OH); Luis Romano (Senior, MH); Kadien Hannah-Mitchell (Senior, MH); Mason Strawn (Junior, MH); Griffen Walker (Senior, S); Cameron Rogers (Senior, OPP) and Jaxson Dorsey (Senior, Libero).
Newcomers include Brammel Mari (Junior, OH); Byron Quezada (Junior, OH); Derek Fernandez (Junior, OH); Joaquin Martinez (Senior, MH/OPP); Wesley Iliff (Sophomore, Setter) and Jose Pereira (Junior, Libero).
“Starting off with a new coaching staff last year demonstrated some challenges, but a lot of progress has been made over the offseason,” said head coach Daniel Shuck. “We have a large group of seniors this year that have had the opportunity to learn and grow together over the past four years. Our players have a lot of potential and have the ability to go far this year. They have been very focused and are ready to get back on track and become a team to be reckoned with.
The goal this year is to compete for a district berth and the Hurricanes will get that journey started this week when they open the season against Parkland.
