Shop for books at the Public Library of Catasauqua’s used book and bake sale. The sale is open 3-7 p.m. March 27 and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. March 28 in the upstairs community room. Shop a selection of children’s and adult’s books, DVDs and much more.
Donations of gently used books can be dropped off during open hours 2-7:30 p.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesdays and 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturdays at the library, 302 Bridge St.
Items that will not be accepted include encyclopedias, textbooks, magazines, VHS tapes and soiled or torn books.

The annual Catasauqua/North Catasauqua fire departments’ Easter egg hunt will take place noon March 28 at Catasauqua Park and Playground, 501 American St. The rain date will be March 29.

Residents are invited to attend a seniors and veterans expo, scheduled for 9 a.m.-noon April 10 at St. Luke’s Sports Center, 3323 Seventh St., Whitehall. Local agencies and health care organizations will be available to share resources, information and health screenings for attendees.
No RSVP is needed, all are welcome to attend.
The expo is sponsored by state Sen. Nick Miller, D-14th, and state Rep. Jeanne McNeill, D-133rd.

Historic Catasauqua Preservation Association is sponsoring a pierogi sale. Pierogies are homemade potato and cheese made at St. John Fisher Roman Catholic Church, 1239 Third St. There is a cost per dozen.
The deadline for orders is April 10. Orders can be picked up 2-6 p.m. April 17 in the lower-level church hall.
Payment in the form of cash or check made payable to HCPA is due at the time of pickup.

Northampton and state Rep. Zach Mako, R-183rd, will be hosting a free shredding event 10 a.m.-noon April 18 at Northampton Banquet and Event Center, 1601 Laubach Ave. The event is to help safeguard residents against identity theft by having their personal documents securely destroyed.
Acceptable items include all paper and manila folders and documents that contain personal information, including birth dates, Social Security numbers, bank account information and credit card numbers. Staples or paper clips do not need to be removed.
No more than four bags or boxes per household are permitted, and no businesses.
Information also will be provided about consumer protection and identity theft.
No RSVP is required.

St. Mary’s Catholic Church will hold cash bingo April 19 in the parish center. The doors and kitchen will open 11:30 a.m., with bingo beginning 1 p.m.
There is a cost that includes 15 games, seven specials and one jackpot round. Bring your daubers, but no hardboards.
No outside food or drinks are permitted. The kitchen will be selling your favorites.

Catasauqua Garden Club is sponsoring a field trip to Winterhur Gardens April 23. The bus leaves 8:30 a.m. from Catasauqua Park and Playground and will return 5:30 p.m.
Explore the stunning Winterthur Gardens, including daffodil fields, bluebell carpets, etc., and a guided tour of the mansion’s fine collection of American decorative arts. Participants will also visit the Brandywine Art Museum. Lunch will not be provided.

The J4 Committee will hold a basket raffle and bingo April 25 at Catasauqua American Legion Post 215, 330 Second St. Doors open noon, and bingo begins 1 p.m.
Tickets include 15 games and cash prizes. Special games are at an additional cost. The kitchen will be open, and there will be a cash bar.
T-shirts will also be sold at the event as an additional fundraiser.
The event benefits the J4 America 250 celebration in July.

Hop on over to the North Catasauqua small Town USA Little Free Library. Easter books and “special” surprises have been added along with new books for children and adults inside the library just in time for Easter. The Little Free Library is located at borough hall, 1066 Fourth St.
The Little Free Library is available anytime and has books available for all ages.
