NASD faces Wizards

The Northampton Area School District Elementary All-Stars faced off with the world-famous Harlem Wizards Feb. 28 for an exciting basketball game in the Northampton Area High School gymnasium. The 15 members of the All-Stars gave their all to challenge the Wizards in a high-energy event that truly was fun for all the students, families and friends who attended the game.

The evening was packed with nonstop laughs, great music, alley-oops and jaw-dropping slam dunks. The audience was especially thrilled with the elementary school students who showed their basketball skills in a variety of contests led by the Wizards — future Konkrete Kids stars in the making!

The event was organized by Northampton Borough Elementary Schools Principal Doug Sherman as a Northampton Area Konkrete Kids Educational Foundation fundraiser. It was extremely successful due to the support of the elementary faculty and staff All-Stars, as well as the many faculty and foundation volunteers who served as ticket takers, ushers, souvenir sales staff and general helpers. PTA members from the Borough and Moore elementary schools added to the festivities by providing a variety of snacks at their concession stands in the cafeteria throughout the evening.

The Elementary All-Stars included Stephanie Cummings, Nicole Cramer, Amanda Seibert, Ashley McConnell, Elyse Matika, Rachel Olm, Sydney Warner, Ronia Jarrah, Adin Hoderewski, Natalie St. Hill, Elizabeth Bell, Douglas Sherman, Nina Collins, Kendra Fox and Craig Schutts.

All profits from this foundation fundraiser will be used for the grant program that supports and finances innovative programs that benefit the education of the district’s K-12 students through extended learning opportunities and cocurricular experiences.
