Maria B. (Wulle) Schmid, 105, of Emmaus, died peacefully March 11, 2026.

Born in Nehren, Germany, she was the daughter of the late Emma Wulle. She arrived in the United States with her family in 1929, initially living in Nashville, Tenn. and later moving to New York.

She was a longtime employee of Phoebe Floral in Allentown.

She was a member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Allentown.

She was a passionate gardener, enjoying fresh vegetables from her garden and nurturing both indoor and outdoor plants. She loved caring for her home and spending time in her kitchen, especially baking cookies. When asked about the secret to her longevity, she would say it was eating healthy and staying active.

She is survived by her daughter, Gloria E., of Hanover, Mass; granddaughter, Shannon M. Hignite, of Garner, N.C.; nieces, Carol Edelstein, of Ridge, N.Y.; Helen Nordvall, of Trumbull, Conn.

She was predeceased by son, Richard P.; daughter, Barbara M.; granddaughter, Jennifer “Jenny” M. Hignite; brother, Kurt Wulle.

Schantz Funeral Home, P.C., 250 Main Street, Emmaus, is handling arrangements.
