Salisbury beats Wilson, faces ACC

The Salisbury boys basketball team entered the District 11 tournament as the number two seed and faced seventh seed Wilson in the quarterfinals.

With a 55-42 win over the Warriors, the Falcons advanced to the semifinal round of districts for the first time since the 2019-2020 season.

The Falcons had also defeated Wilson during the regular season by a 68-46 score. No individual statistics from their quarterfinal win were available.

The win sets up a game against third seeded Allentown Central Catholic in the semifinal round.

The Vikings downed Lehighton 51-40 in the quarterfinals to advance. Central has won the last three District 11 4A championships but come in one seed lower than they were in those tournaments.

In each of the past two seasons, Salisbury was eliminated by Saucon Valley in the quarterfinals.

A win would put the Falcons into the finals for the first time since the 2010-2011 season when they defeated Pine Grove 60-54 to win their fourth District 11 championship.

A win in the semis this year would match up Salisbury against either top seed Northwestern Lehigh or fifth seeded North Schuylkill.

A semifinal win would also clinch a state playoff berth as three Class 4A teams advance to states this season.

A loss in semis would result in a third-place game pitting the Falcons against the loser of the Northwerstern-North Schuylkill game. The winner will move on to states and the losing team’s season will end.
