PHS medley relay gets top seed
Seeds for the PIAA Swimming and Diving Championships were released Monday and Parkland will be the top seed in the meet’s first event.
Parkland’s girls 200-yard medley relay team of junior Baylee Kish, senior Kelsey McPeek, senior Milla Hah and junior Sydney LaBaugh swam the event in a district record time 1:42.66 at districts to earn the top seed for states.
The second seed in the medley relay, Upper Dublin, is seeded at 1:43.23.
Parkland qualified for states in all six relays, with the boys medley relay seeded sixth at 1:34.67. The team of senior Thomas Price and juniors Ethan Coleman, Quinn Conway and Jacob Piccini swam that time at districts.
The Trojan girls 400-yarf freestyle relay team is also a six seed for states. The foursome of LaBaugh, McPeek, Kish and junior Farrah Hahn swam a 3:32.99 at districts to earn that seed.
Parkland’s girls 200 freestyle relay team of McPeek, Farrah Hahn, Milla Hahn and sophomore Mazie Fleischaker swam a 1:39.07 at districts and is seeded 14th for the state meet.
Parkland’s boys 200 free relay team of seniors Dominic Faenza and Jacob Grab, freshman Dominic Yeager and Price swan the event in 1:26.70 to garner the 11th seed for states. In the boys 400 free relay, Piccini, Conway, Coleman and Faenza posted a time of 3:10.68 at districts and are seeded 15th for the state meet.
In girls individual events, McPeek is the No. 2 seed in the 100-yard breaststroke at 1:02.03. The top seed, Sophia Sileo-Magliari (Upper Dublin) comes in with a seed time of 1:01.73
Kish and LaBaugh also hold top 8 seeds for states.
Kish is the sixth seed in backstroke at 55.90. She also qualified as the 21st seed in individual medley with a time of 2:09.33.
LaBaugh is seeded seventh in the 100-yard butterfly at 56.25 and 10th in 100 backstroke at 56.47.
Milla Hahn is seeded 23rd in breaststroke (1:06.50) and 24th in individual medley (2:10.13). Farrah Hahn is seeded 22nd in 100 backstroke at 58.39.
In boys events, Parkland diver Charlie Epstein leads the way as the fourth seed with a score of 531.45 from districts.
Faenza is seeded fifth in two events with a 1:40.74 in the 100 free and a 4:34.75 in the 500.
Price and Coleman are also qualified in two events.
Price is the 12th seed in butterfly at 50.40 and the 18th seed in 100 free (46.66). Coleman is seeded 14th in breaststroke (57.52) and 15th in individual medley (1:54.99).
Conway earned the 29th seed in butterfly at 53.04.
The PIAA Class 3A State Championships are schedule for Wednesday and Thursday, March 11-12 at Bucknell University.
