Parkland looks to return to playoffs
The 2025 season did not end the way that the Parkland High School girls lacrosse team would have hoped for, with its annual goals of winning the Eastern Pennsylvania Conference and District 11 championships.
The Trojans fell short of both of those goals and did not qualify for the postseason in any format.
Parkland finished the 2025 campaign 9-10 overall and 3-5 in the conference. The Trojans graduated a talented senior class that included Anna Sensinger, Anna Madeira, Cara Skrapits, Katie Generose and Marina Galligani.
But even with that talented class moving up, head coach Brittaney Costigan and her staff bring back a larger number of returning players that saw a lot of quality time last season. That group includes seniors Emma Roseman, Abby Marquardt, Makenzie Spangler, Milla Hahn, Brynn Snyder, Juliana Varano and Addie Winfield, juniors Kyla Smith, Lila Temchatin and Audrina Stewart, along with sophomores Sydney Sensinger, Olivia Esteban, Jade Caravello, Samantha Schippell.
Some key newcomers that Costigan expects to contribute this season include freshmen Laura Volpe, Seneca Benes and Madelyn Conti.
Winfield finished with 34 goals and 22 assists last season. Temchatin had 33 goals and 19 assists. Hahn and Esteban scored 29 and 21 goals, respectively last season.
“We want to continue building upon our play from last year and our new players skill and athleticism to hopefully make it further into May,” said Costigan. Last year wasn’t what Parkland girls lacrosse is about, so we want to right the ship and be back competing for championships. I think we have the team that can do that.”
The Trojans are scheduled to open play Thursday afternoon at Saucon Valley and then host Council Rock South Friday.
