LEHIGH VALLEY WEATHER

Salisbury Township egg hunt scheduled March 21, registration required

Spring is two days away! March 20 at 10:46 a.m. marks the official arrival of spring in the northern hemisphere and after a delicious taste of several 75º-80º days I am ready for more. Mother Nature, however, seems to be saying, “Not so fast. I’m still in charge around here!”

Easter will be here before we know it so it’s time to dig out the kids’ Easter baskets and experience the fast-paced fun of local egg hunts. It is amazing to me how kids will scramble at lightning speed to gather eggs and deposit them directly into a basket but grabbing clothes off the floor and putting them in a hamper is a monumental challenge.

The Salisbury Township egg hunt will take place 10 a.m. March 21 at Franko Park, 1339 Black River Road. In case of inclement weather, a rain date of 10 a.m. March 28 has been set. This year you must register online at salisburylehighpa.gov/catergory/news/.

Trinity Memorial Lutheran Church, 535 E. Emaus Avenue, Allentown, will host a community egg hunt 10 a.m. to noon March 28. A grab-and-go breakfast also will be offered. Registration is required at linktr.ee/trinitymemorial.

In school district news, Salisbury Elementary School students will be dismissed 1:15 p.m. March 18 so parent/teacher conferences can be held 1:30-5:30 p.m. SES will be closed for conferences March 19 and all schools will be closed March 20 for a professional development day.

Mark your calendar for SES Family Math Game Night 6-7:30 p.m. March 31.

The Scholastic Book Fair at Salisbury Middle School will be held March 23-27. Evening hours will be held 5-8:30 p.m. March 26.

A Salisbury High School college information night will take place 6:30-8 p.m. March 24.

All Salisbury schools and offices will be closed for spring break April 2-6. Schools will reopen April 7.

Registration for the Wildlands Conservancy summer camps is ongoing. To register, visit wildlandspa.org/camp and save 10% if you complete registration by April 1.

While you are on the Wildlands site you can celebrate International Day of Forests by registering for the Black River BioBlitz at Franko Park 9 a.m. to noon March 21. You can explore at your own pace or register to join the 1.5 mile guided tree identification hike starting 9 a.m. This event is fun for all ages. Registration ends March 19.

Salisbury Township is accepting applications for part-time seasonal playground counselors for the summer playground program.

The program runs mid-June to late July 9 a.m. to noon Monday through Friday and 6:30-8 p.m. Wednesday evenings.

Students who are at least 16 years of age and can provide their own transportation are invited to apply. Applications can be submitted in person at the Salisbury Township municipal building, 2900 S. Pike Ave., Allentown or via email at info@salisburylehighpa.gov.

All applications must be received by April 1.
