Reports of gun shots during Bath fight prove unfounded

The criminal investigation unit of Pennsylvania State Police-Troop M, Bethlehem, is investigating a large fight that occurred in Bath Borough. Troopers were dispatched to the area of 110 E. Main St. around 5:40 p.m. March 12 for the report of gun shots in the area.

Upon arrival, it was determined that approximately 15-20 juveniles got into a physical altercation that involved an Acura that was in the road. During the altercation, there was no indication of shots were fired, police determined.

During this investigation, State Route 512 between Mill and Main streets was closed.

The Troop M K-9 and Troop M forensic service unit assisted at the scene.

Mayor Fiorella Reginelli Mirabito shared a post on Facebook informing residents of the incident and notifying them that emergency personnel are investigating.

“Authorities have since confirmed that the incident was not a shooting. Most importantly, there was no loss of life and no serious injuries were reported,” she said in the post. “While reports of this nature can understandably cause concern, our first responders acted quickly and professionally to assess and secure the situation. Incidents like this can occur anywhere, and today’s situation appears to have been a random and isolated event.”

Reginelli Mirabito thanked the state police for the “prompt response” and for all the responders for “their continued commitment to keeping our community safe.”

“We also appreciate the patience and cooperation of our residents and business owners while the situation was being addressed,” her post continued.
