Public Library of Catasauqua: Donations still accepted for library spring book, bake sale

The annual spring book and bake sale fundraiser is scheduled for 3-7 p.m. March 27 and 10 a.m.-4 p.m. March 28 in the library’s auditorium.

Donations will be accepted right up to the sale, so feel free to bring your gently used items to the library.

We are especially looking for more children’s books and DVDs, as well as adult and children’s classics, history or nonfiction and music CDs. We’ll also have a few records for sale. Do not bring textbooks, magazines or VHS tapes.

The Gaming Club invites kids and teens to play Minecraft and Roblox 11 a.m. March 21 and then 4:30 p.m. March 25 and 26. Help is provided, so feel free to give it a try if you’ve never played.

We only have six computers, so feel free to bring your own device. The library will make sure everyone gets a chance to play.

The library’s adult book club will be meeting 3 p.m. April 1. This month, participants will explore their “to be read” piles.

Do you have a stash of books that you have always meant to read, but something always got in the way? But you keep the books at hand, ready for a time when you can dive in?

This month, we are giving you permission to pick up a book from your pile, read it and share your thoughts with the group. Was it worth the wait? Why did you wait so long? What about those other books you have stashed away?

The library will host its first history program of the year 7 p.m. April 8 when Benedict Arnold will be in the auditorium to discuss his life and take questions. Refreshments will be served. Tickets can be purchased at the library anytime.

***

Our new collection of classic board games is on display and ready for use. Come down and spend a rainy day playing a game with an old friend — or a new one!

***

Don’t forget about the wonderful reading and craft activity for kids and their caregivers held 4 p.m. every Thursday in our second-floor space, as well as our fiber arts group the Stitches, which meets 5:30 p.m. every Monday at our downstairs conference table.

Both groups are wonderfully open spaces for regulars and newcomers to share time and activity.
