Florence “Flossy” Anthony, 97, of Lower Macungie Township, died peacefully March 12, 2026, surrounded by those she loved.
She was the wife of the late Donald Anthony.
She was a devout Catholic who dutifully raised her children in the faith and she was in equal measure a patriotic American. A story that delighted so many is during World War II, as a teen, she sold war bonds door-to-door for the war effort. In her 20s, though not a military wife, she was a military fiancée who ran her betrothed’s trucking company while he served in an artillery unit in the Korean War until they married shortly after his return from combat.
In the following years and into her 80s, she loved her job as a bookkeeper for a family business owned by her niece and nephews. She couldn’t imagine a life that didn’t include getting dressed up, going into the office and spending the day with family.
She is survived by a twin sister, Frances; daughter, Susan Trent (Frank); son, Jeffrey (Mary Ann); many nieces and nephews.
A service will be held 11 a.m. March 19 at the Cathedral Church of St. Catharine of Siena, 1825 W. Turner St., Allentown 18104. A viewing will begin 10 a.m. Arrangements entrusted to Heintzelman – Stephens Funeral Home, P.C. (www.heintzelmanstephens.com).
Contributions can be made to the church or Serenity Hospice at 610-281-4800.
