FHS tennis gets win
Freedom’s boys tennis team won its second meet of the season, 4-2, when the Patriots hosted Whitehall on March 13.
Oscar Avila won at No. 1 singles, 6-1, 6-1, and Jonah Rodburg won at No. 3 Singles, 6-2, 6-4.
No. 2 singles player Logan Ritter lost in a close match, 4-6, 6-4, 4-6.
Bhavya Patel and Henri Houle also lost in a close match at No. 2 doubles, 6-7 (7-4), 4-6.
Luke Eureyecko and Michael Sloma were No. 3 doubles winners, 7-5, 6-2, and Zane Silvius and Ian Jimenez won at No. 4 doubles, 6-2, 7-5.
Bethlehem Catholic’s doubles players came through in their season opener on March 9 but the Hawks lost to Nazareth in team results, 4-3.
Winners for the Hawks were Ralston Rowlands and Kolby Mease at No. 2 doubles, 6-4, 6-4, Nico Massa and Joey Maigur at No. 3 doubles, 6-2, 6-3, and Connor Gillahan and Jack Cole at No. 4 doubles, 7-6 (2), 6-1.
In singles play, Nazareth’s Vansh Singhal topped Liam Maloney, 6-0, 6-0, Chase Skutches defeated Kendryk Silva, 6-0, 6-4, and Lorinc Von Platen beat Derrick Hartman, 6-3, 6-2.
Also last week, Liberty lost to Parkland, 2-4, on March 13 at Parkland.
Winners for the Hurricanes were Liam Bulman at No. 3 singles, 6-3, 6-3, and Thomas Horvath and Finn brown at No. 2 doubles, 6-0, 6-4.
Connor Terefinko and Aneesh Tumma lost at No. 3 doubles, 5-7, 3-6, and Sean Haas and Gio Piccini lost at No. 4 doubles, 4-6, 4-6.
In singles play, Luke D’Angelo lost, 6-0, 6-0, in a tough match at No. 1, and Erik Peterson lost at No. 2, 2-6, 6-1, 2-6.
