Emmaus Public Library hosts sixth annual Tee Time at the Library fundraiser March 6-7

The Emmaus Public Library held its sixth annual Tee Time at the Library mini golf fundraiser March 6-7 to raise money for its general operating fund.

The Friday event took place 6-9 p.m. and welcomed adults 21 and older while the Saturday event held between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. was designated for families with younger children.

The adult event tickets included 18 rounds of mini golf, food and an adult beverage.

The Saturday family event cost was a per person charge and was free for children ages 4 and younger.

More than 100 tickets were sold for the Friday event and the Saturday event anticipated several hundred participants.

A basket raffle was also part of the fundraising event.

Emmaus Public Library Director Allison Floray and her team of volunteers from the Emmaus Rotary, Kiwanis Club, the library board members and Friends of the Emmaus Public Library worked together to provide an evening of fun entertainment for both adults and families by turning the library stacks into a creative and engaging mini golf course.

Creative obstacles and hazards made by children throughout the years turned the stacks into a fun and challenging mini golf experience. Lollipops, tree houses, playing cards, plants and advertisements adorned the stacks as players moved throughout the various holes spread out throughout the library. In addition to raising money, the experience allows individuals to explore all the library has to offer.

There were groups of friends who came together to enjoy an evening out while contributing to a wonderful cause.

Emmaus High School Class of 2016 alumni Michelle Gunn and Juliette Confer joined their fellow alum Shannon Burkholder at the fundraiser. Burkholder serves as financial coordinator for her father’s business Burkholder’s Heating and Air Conditioning, Inc., a sponsor of one of the 18 holes on the mini golf course.

Brianna and Joe Demjanick enjoyed the evening playing mini golf, too.

Brianna shared they did not even have to drive to the library for the event.

“We walked here,” she said.

The Demjanicks appreciated the ability to enjoy outings like these with no hassles of parking.

Musical entertainment for the March 6 event was provided by Larry Killingsworth and his son Daniel. They enjoyed volunteering for the event and provided a variety of music genres for all ages.

“We play everything,” said Larry.

Yergey’s Brewing and Black River Farms Vineyard Winery provided the adult beverages for the Friday evening leg of the two-day fundraiser.

Title sponsors included Burkholder’s, Carl and Jill Cramer, Friends of the Emmaus Public Library, Sarah Hait Charette and Jason Ulrich of Gross McGinley and IMC Construction.

There were 17 holes sponsored by Lehigh Valley local businesses and nine local pro sponsors.

Media sponsors included East Penn Press and Vinyl Press.

Switchback Pizza, Cactus Blue, Volpe’s Sports Bar, Costco, Wegmans, DevonHouse Senior Living, Superior Restaurant and Weis Markets provided food and items for raffle baskets.
