District Attorney Gavin P. Holihan has announced Anderson Jorge Cruz, 28, no known address, has been sentenced in an Allentown killing. He was convicted in December 2025 of the killing of his friend, 24-year-old Juan Alfredo Sanchez.
On April 26, 2018, Cruz shot the victim during an argument in a car and drove away. Cruz did not call the police or EMS, but instead went to get a haircut. Sanchez died during surgery. He gave away the gun, sold his car, and fled to Massachusetts, where two months later he committed a second homicide. In 2019, he was arrested by federal authorities in a heroin and fentanyl trafficking investigation. He pleaded guilty in both the federal drug investigation and the Massachusetts’ homicide and was eventually returned tPennsylvania for the homicide case.
Cruz will serve his state prison sentence consecutively to that sentence in Massachusetts.
