The Upper Macungie Township Police Department is asking the public for assistance in identifying the operator of a 2020-2022 Honda CR-V.
Police believe the operator may have witnessed a crash that occurred 6:14 p.m. Feb. 19 on Route 100 north of Wertman Road.
According to police, police, fire and EMS were dispatched to the area for a motor vehicle crash with entrapment.
Police say upon arrival and initial investigation, it was determined a southbound GMC Sierra pickup truck driven by a 61-year-old Breinigsville man crossed into the northbound lane and struck a northbound Honda sedan driven by a 27-year-old Allentown man head-on.
Both drivers were seriously injured and required mechanical extrication.
According to police, both drivers were transported to the hospital, where the Allentown man was later pronounced deceased.
Upper Macungie Township Bureau of Fire assisted at the scene of the crash.
In addition to the Upper Macungie Police Department, this crash is being investigated with assistance from the Lehigh County Accident Reconstruction team and the Lehigh County District Attorney’s office.
