Locura de Marzo/March Music Madness begins

Salisbury High School is kicking off March with several exciting events that encourage student participation, school spirit and community involvement.

Spanish teacher Laura DosSantos is once again hosting the annual Locura de Marzo / March Music Madness, a national bracket-style music challenge that introduces students to songs from various Spanish-speaking countries and multiple music genres. The event encourages students and staff to explore new music while participating in a fun competition.

Participants fill out a bracket predicting which songs will advance through each round, similar to a traditional March Madness basketball bracket. Students also have the opportunity to participate in the worldwide bracket competition for a chance to win a $400 Amazon gift card.

In addition to music-related activities, the SHS journalism class is organizing a basketball tournament to take place March 17. Students are encouraged to form teams and sign up to compete in the event. The entry fee is per team, and the tournament will take place during Falcon Period. The event promises to be an exciting opportunity for students to compete while their classmates watch and support them.

Later in the week, Salisbury will celebrate academic achievement during the National Honor Society Induction Ceremony 7 p.m. March 19.

During the ceremony, new members will officially be inducted into the organization and the newly selected officers will be announced.

The event recognizes students who have demonstrated excellence in scholarship, leadership, service and character.

With music competitions, student-run athletic events and academic celebrations, SHS continues to create engaging opportunities for students to participate in school life.

These activities not only bring the school community together but also highlight the many ways Falcons can get involved throughout the year.
