Library hosts game night

Public Library of Catasauqua, 302 Bridge St., hosted a game night Feb. 28, starting 5 p.m. The event, advertised on the library’s message board, invited Catasauqua residents and library card holders to stop by the library to enjoy board games and light refreshments.

According to library Director Brad Rogers, this event idea originated after the library received a significant donation of gently used board games and noticed an increase in middle school and high school students stopping into the library.

Rogers also described plans to update the library’s website in the next few weeks, as well as a districtwide effort to create a shared event calendar with the different sister libraries in the district.

In addition to a catalog of books, movies and magazines, the Catasauqua library also provides patrons with online resources, including six computers for patron use, e-books, audiobooks and craft supplies.

The library also hosts two regular clubs, including the Keep Me in Stitches fiber arts club that meets weekly and a book club that meets monthly.

Overall, this event is a nice step forward by library staff to rejuvenate the library into a space where patrons can stay awhile and relax.

The library also has two upcoming events, a book and bake sale March 27 and 28 and an evening with Benedict Arnold April 8. Both events are advertised within the library.
