Catasauqua Borough crossing guard
Elizabeth Buch- man, 65, of Catasauqua, died Feb. 28, 2026, at home. She was the wife of Elwood “Woody” Buchman Jr. for 25 years.
Born in Allentown, she was the daughter of the late Richard and Mary (Mink) Hillegas.
She worked as a seamstress, a nursing assistant at Cedarbrook Nursing Home, in housekeeping at the Bethlehem YMCA and, most recently, as a crossing guard for the borough of Catasauqua.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Stephanie Panko; three grandchildren, Justin Panko Jr., Mason Steele and Mya Steele; a great-granddaughter, Amareliz Panko; three sisters, Mary Ellen O’Connell, Colleen Bauder and Diedre Szymanosky; two brothers, Richard and Stephen Hillegas; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by a brother, Keith Hillegas; and a sister, Donna Hillegas.
