Michael Radford of Bethlehem was arrested Feb. 22 and charged with burglary after allegedly breaking into a Bethlehem residence.
Northampton County District Attorney Stephen G. Baratta said in a release police responded to the 500 block of East Washington Avenue for a report of an open window at a residence. Officers discovered both a window and a garage door that appeared to have been forced open. After securing the scene, police spoke with the victim, who reported several items missing, including jewelry, construction tools and equipment, a fluorescent yellow Ibanez electric guitar, camera equipment and DVD and sound equipment.
Police reviewed surveillance footage, which showed Radford leaving the victim’s residence and returning to his home directly across the street. Police obtained and executed a search warrant for Radford’s residence and a detached shed and a vehicle observed in the footage. Inside Radford’s home officers located an Ibanez electric guitar and, in the vehicle, several construction tools and equipment. The recovered items are valued at approximately $1,480. Police also seized a 3-foot-long metal crowbar believed to have been used in the burglary.
Radford is charged with burglary, criminal trespass, theft-related offenses, and possessing instruments of crime. He was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Daniel G. Corpora and was committed to Northampton County Prison in lieu of $35,000 bail.
