Fire damages residence on Lee Street in Macungie borough

Fire companies from Lower Macungie, Emmaus and South Whitehall responded to a reported house fire with entrapment Feb. 24. The fire was reported around 7 p.m. on Lee Street in Macungie borough.

Macungie EMS were the first to arrive on the scene and reported heavy smoke coming from the home. The resident was able to leave through the back door with help from an EMS crew from Macungie Ambulance. Fire crews were able to quickly bring the fire under control and prevent it from spreading to adjacent homes. Crews were on scene for several hours doing overhaul.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
