BC girls win district title

Bethlehem Catholic’s girls basketball team earned its 10th consecutive District XI title after defeating Southern Lehigh in the Class 5A final, 67-27, on Feb. 28 at Easton Area Middle School.

The Golden Hawks blew by the Spartans with a 21-point lead in the first quarter and a 38-point lead by halftime.

Kam Gallis led the Hawks with 14 points, followed by Aliyah Brame with 12 points, and Leah Ault with 10 points.

Eliana Marques was the Spartans’ top scorer with 14 points.

On Feb. 25, Becahi defeated Bangor in a district semifinal, 60-16, at Executive Education.

Brame had a game high 13 points, followed by Gallis with 10 points.

The PIAA Class 5A girls basketball state tournament begins on March 7 when Bethlehem Catholic will host Bishop Shanahan at 1 p.m.

Southern Lehigh will also compete in states with a contest on March 7 when the Spartans will host Mount St. Joseph at 1 p.m.
