Supt Silva to retire
The Bethlehem Area School District Board of School Directors announced Feb. 24 that Superintendent Jack Silva, Ed.D., has informed the board of his intention to retire at the conclusion of the 2025–26 school year. Dr. Silva’s retirement will be effective July 1.
Silva will complete 40 years of service in public education, including the past three years as superintendent of schools. He shared his decision with the board well in advance to allow for a thoughtful and smooth leadership transition. During the coming months, he will continue to lead the district with his characteristic focus on student success, staff support, and strong community partnerships.
“Serving the Bethlehem Area School District has been the greatest honor of my professional life,” said Silva. “Each day, I have had the privilege of working alongside extraordinary educators, staff, families, and community partners who believe deeply in our students. I am extremely proud of what we have accomplished together and remain confident in the district’s future as we work toward a strong finish to this school year.”
Board President Michael Faccinetto expressed the Board’s appreciation for Silva’s leadership and lasting impact on the district.
“Dr. Silva has led the Bethlehem Area School District with integrity, compassion, and an unwavering commitment to students,” said Faccinetto. “Under his leadership, the district has strengthened academic programs, deepened community partnerships, and maintained sound fiscal stewardship. The Board is deeply grateful for his service and will move forward with a deliberate and transparent process to identify the next Superintendent to continue this important work. Dr. Silva’s professionalism and dedication exemplify the values of this district, and we thank him for four decades of service to public education.”
The Board of School Directors will share additional information regarding the superintendent search process in the coming weeks.
Dr. Silva will continue to serve as superintendent through June 30, leading the district’s ongoing efforts to advance achievement, equity, and engagement across all schools.
