Shave for the Brave is March 13

As February is coming to an end, many exciting events and updates arise.

The Emmaus High School International Fair will be held March 8 in cafeteria one and cafeteria 2.

Throughout the month of March, professional guest speakers from throughout the Lehigh Valley, will visit EHS to talk about their careers. This can open opportunities for many students especially if they are not sure what to pursue in the future. Any student can access these career speaker sessions by going into Naviance and signing up.

The spring musical, “Jekyll and Hyde,” will be performed March 24-29. Make sure to buy tickets before the show is sold out.

The Emmaus Shave for the Brave is March 13. The goal is to raise over $100,000 for valuable research. We encourage as many people as possible to come out and participate.

According to their website https://www.stbaldricks.org/events/mypage/4416/2026, volunteers are encouraged to “be a hero for kids with cancer! The ninth biennial St. Baldrick’s head-shaving event at the Emmaus High School gymnasium is held to help conquer kids’ cancer.

“Through our event, you’ll give hope to thousands of kids diagnosed with cancer every day – from babies and toddlers to children, teens and young adults.

“St. Baldrick’s is the largest charity that funds childhood cancer research grants. Volunteers are encouraged to sign up to shave your head or raise money while keeping your hair. Can’t join us? Please make a donation to give kids the long, healthy lives they deserve.”

We would greatly appreciate your efforts to: solicit donations of themed baskets, electronics, gift certificates or sporting event tickets for raffles, organize dine and donate nights at local restaurants, recruit certified barbers to volunteer their services, create teams on our website and collect money around the community.

In 2010, Shave for the Brave raised $24,567, in 2011, $39,920, in 2013, $49,058, in 2015, $65,831, in 2017, $78,071, in 2019, $108,987, in 2022, $159,720 and in 2024 $89,155.

There is now an East Penn School District therapy dog fundraiser. There is a shop for EPSD therapy dog apparel on Emmaus’ school website. Let’s spread the word and show our support for our therapy dogs.

If you are thinking about signing up for the March 14 SAT, the deadline is Feb. 27.

Support our Future Business Leaders of America club while enjoying delicious specialty coffee and cocoa. Through our partnership with Bitty & Beau’s Coffee, a company known for its commitment to human rights and inclusive employment, 40% of all profits go directly to FBLA.

The fundraiser runs through Feb. 28 and will ship directly to you or your gift recipient. It’s a perfect gift idea for teachers, friends, family or yourself.

Every purchase supports FBLA’s state competition and helps promote meaningful employment opportunities for people with disabilities.
