District News: Prom fashion show set for Feb. 27 at Whitehall High School

Whitehall High School’s prom fashion show will be taking place Feb. 27 after school in the auditorium. The event is free to attend. Come on out to see the latest fashion trends from Bridals by Sandra and C.E. Roth.

A bake sale, snack stand and raffle table will also be featured at the event.

In case of snow, the makeup date is set for 3-9 p.m. Feb. 28.

WHS students, club members, staff, etc., are you interested in helping local kids in need in the area? The Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Lehigh Valley program is sponsoring a bowling event March 29 at Jordan Lanes, Whitehall. WCSD has participated in this event for several years, raising more than $20,000 through team and individual donations.

Teams must consist of at least four members, and teams must donate/raise money in order to participate.

For further details, see Dr. Fig in room E110 at the school. The deadline to apply is March 1.

There is a professional development day for teachers scheduled for March 2. Students will not be in school.

WHS sophomores and juniors, if you are interested in taking early college courses, Lehigh Carbon Community College will have an in-person information session for students and families 5 p.m. March 10 at the college.

Seniors now have the opportunity to apply for a scholarship through the Gail Weiner-Shearer Scholarship Program. Apply now for one of five $1,000 scholarships.

The application deadline is March 20.

WHS Theatre Department is collecting 1980s-style prom dresses for its spring 2026 musical, “The Wedding Singer.” If you have old ’80s clothes, consider donating them to help the department. Also, if you are a thrift-shop hunter and find this style, the department would gladly accept it.

Performances will be 7 p.m. March 26-28 and 2 p.m. March 29 in the WHS auditorium.

WHS course selection for the next school year is underway and will include a review by the counseling department. It is important for students to carefully consider their options. Students should begin having discussions with their teachers and parents/guardians regarding course recommendations.

Students should utilize the program of studies on the WCSD website to read class descriptions and prerequisites.

WHS yearbook sales are underway. Visit the school website to find the QR code to order or purchase directly at balfour.com.

The 2026 edition of the WHS yearbook, The Whitehall, will continue the tradition of publishing baby pictures and senior ads of graduating seniors. For more information or to send your photos, visit the WCSD website.

Staff is also looking for seniors’ baby pictures for the upcoming yearbook. They are looking for advertisements as well.

The Pennsylvania Public School Code Section 1402 Health Services requires students, upon original entry, in sixth grade and 11th grade to have a physical examination on file.

Physicals for 11th grade are accepted if completed anytime after July 1 of the student’s 10th-grade year. Additionally, physical exams completed for a driver’s license are also accepted.

Physicals can be emailed to sallam@whitehallcoplay.org, faxed to 610-871-3688 or dropped off in person.

Become a part of Whitehall-Coplay PTO PLUS. The group needs volunteers for events like Children’s Day and the book fair.

All volunteers must have clearances and a TB test at this time. Clearances and the TB test are free for volunteers.
