Arlene Gogel, 96, of Bethlehem and formerly of Whitehall, died Feb. 16, 2026, at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Muhlenberg. She was the wife of Ray R. Gogel for more than 75 years.

Born in Mickleys, she was the daughter of the late August and Mary (Szimitz) Scharl Jr.

She was a member of Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church, Whitehall.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons, Barry R. of Forrest Hill, N.Y., and Mark R. and wife Aliceann of Allentown; a daughter, Linda A. and husband Henry Lokay of Boulder, Colo.; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by a daughter-in-law, Linda L.; two brothers, August “Jake” Scharl Jr. and Joseph Scharl; and three sisters, Mary Torba, Ida Gontar and Matilda Scharl.
