PHS girls wrestlers pin nine Patriots

The Parkland girls wrestling team improved to 10-1 with a 71-6 win over Freedom last week.

The Trojans won nine matches by fall as Taya Daniels (100), Lily Snook (118), Saige Rittenhouse (124), Angelina Spachman (136), Laura Volpe (142), Abrianna Gomez (148), Emily Siglin (155), Liz Karla Grullon-Vasquez (190) and Scarlett Bareither (235) all pinned their Patriot opponents.

Payton Schneck (106) won her match by technical fall, while Sydney Laputka (112) and Natalie Deutsch (170) picked up wins by forfeit.

The Trojans visited Pleasant Valley Wednesday and will host Emmaus Thursday before competing in Saturday’s East Penn Conference Championships.

The Trojans also have a dual meet against East Stroudsburg South, on Wednesday, Jan. 28. The District 11 Championships are scheduled for Feb.14-15 at Freedom High School.
