PHS boys basketball beats Easton, Dieruff

Since a regular season-opening loss to Allen, the Parkland High School boys basketball team has won eight games in the Eastern Pennsylvania Conference. Last week, the Trojans continued that streak with two more victories.

Last Tuesday, Jan.13, Parkland took down Easton 65-34. Two days later, the Trojans came out on top of Dieruff 73-50.

In the victory over the Red Rovers, Parkland led 32-18 at halftime and took control of the game with a strong third quarter where they outscored Easton 22-6.

Three PHS players finished in double figures in scoring, led by 13 points from Tyler Beck. Blake Nassry finished with 11 points and Nassim Adams netted 10 points. Ryan Kearney scored nine points. Jude Ruisch tallied six points and both TJ Lawrence and Bear Jacobs had five points. Alex Barrera recorded four points and Zion Barrera rounded out the scoring with two points. Kearney and Beck each drained three 3-pointers.

In the win against the Huskies, the score was tied 10-10 after the opening quarter, but Parkland outscored the Huskies 46-30 in the next two quarters. Both Beck and Ruisch led the offense with 14 points and Nassry contributed 13 points. Adams and Alex Barrera scored nine points and Lawrence, Zion Barrera and Marcus Temchatin each added four points.

Parkland, which improved to 11-5 overall and 10-1 in the conference, hosted Allen this past Tuesday night and is at Whitehall on Friday night, before welcoming Central Catholic to town next Tuesday night.
