Hornets top PHS, earn four straight wins
The Emmaus wrestling team opened 2026 by dropping its first match of the new year. But the Hornets have seemingly put that 29-25 defeat to Nazareth behind them.
The Hornets (14-1 overall; 7-1 in East Penn Conference) have won four straight matches to remain near the top of the District 11 Class 3A power rankings. Emmaus entered this week in second place in the 3A rankings, just behind Nazareth.
Emmaus earned a dominant 47-17 victory over Stroudsburg on Wednesday, Jan. 14. Emmaus’ Teagan Caciolo (121), Tommy Fallstich (145) and Logan Armstrong (189) all pinned their opponents. Emilio Albanese (127) and Jackson Max (139) won by technical fall, Aiden Bayard (152) won by major decision, and Levi Max (114) Xayden Sallit (172) and Logan Roth (285) all won by decision.
Emmaus followed that with an even more convincing victory a week later, taking 11 of the 13 bouts to secure a 54-8 win over Liberty. Talan Springer (127), Xyler Sallit (160), Chase DeCesare (215), Jackson Max (139) and Armstrong (189) all picked up wins by fall for the Hornets. Albanese (133) and Xayden Sallit (172) each picked up wins by technical fall, Levi Max (114) and Fallstich (145) won by major decision, and Caciolo (121) and Bayard (152) picked up decisions.
A day later, Emmaus played host to Parkland. The Hornets won nine of the 13 matches to secure a 43-20 victory last Thursday. Caciolo (121), Springer (127) and Xyler Sallit (160) all picked up pins for the Hornets. Three other Hornets picked up bonus points for Emmaus. Albanese (133) won by technical fall, while Bayard (152) and Xayden Sallit (172) secured wins by major decision. Fallstich (145) and DeCesare (215) each picked up wins by decision.
Emmaus had little trouble against Pennridge over the weekend, securing a 43-22 win for its fourth straight victory.
Results from individual bouts from the Pennridge match were not available to the Press.
The Hornets next take the mat against Pocono Mountain East on Wednesday to close out the regular season. Match time is set for 7 p.m. at Emmaus High School.
The District 11 Class 3A Duals will be held on Saturday at Freedom High School.
