LEHIGH VALLEY WEATHER

Writers group to hold monthly meeting

Greater Lehigh Valley Writers’ Group will hold its monthly meeting 10 a.m. to noon Feb. 28.

The meeting is offered in a hybrid format – in-person at the Palmer Branch of the Easton Library, 1 Weller Place, Palmer and online via Zoom.

Membership business will be conducted 10-11 a.m.

From 11 a.m. to noon, author and English professor Jeffrey Voccola will present “Creating the Story Arc.”

How do we bring our story ideas to life on the page?

With so many components at play – plot, character, narrative, active scenes of dialogue – the writer can easily become overwhelmed.

But mapping out the story can provide clarity and focus.

At this craft talk, discussion will focus on finding direction through the narrative arc.

Voccola will present an afternoon workshop, “Character and Point of View” 1-3 p.m.

We all love a good plot, but ultimately stories are about people.

To become fully immersed in a piece of fiction, readers must understand and connect with the characters.

Voccola will discuss character development and using point of view to keep the reader engaged.

Registration is required for the afternoon program.

There is no cost for members.

There is a cost for non-members payable via AccuPay.
