Seth Witcher gets a Golden Ticket!
The Parkland School District Education Foundation continued its Alumni Spotlight Series Feb. 12 at Retriever Brewery, featuring Parkland High School Class of 2017 graduate Seth Witcher, currently participating on “American Idol.”
The Alumni Spotlight Series celebrates Parkland graduates who are making an impact in their careers and communities.
Guests gathered 5-6:30 p.m. to hear Witcher reflect on his journey from engineering student to musician.
A Parkland High School graduate and “American Idol” finalist, Witcher spoke about discovering his passion for music.
He began playing piano at age six before transitioning to guitar.
While at Parkland, he participated in various sports and performed in the school’s Mr. Parkland competition.
Though he once envisioned a career in engineering – his favorite subject – music ultimately became his calling.
Witcher fondly recalled breakfasts with friends and credited teachers, including Mr. Roberts, for their positive influence and encouragement.
He emphasized the importance of discipline and careful scheduling when pursuing ambitious goals, advising students to stay focused on the bigger picture.
When asked about his experience on “American Idol,” Witcher playfully sidestepped several questions from Tori Morgan, who served as master of ceremonies and is president of the foundation board, noting the air of mystery surrounding the show.
Witcher cited Ed Sheeran and John Legend among his musical influences and shared he hopes to one day perform at Madison Square Garden.
The evening concluded on a celebratory note.
The education foundation presented Witcher with a Golden Ticket of its own, telling him, “You’re always a winner in our hearts,” before surprising him with a cake in honor of his birthday that day.
