At approximately 8:28 a.m. Feb. 11, Salisbury Township Police Department officers and Eastern Salisbury Fire Department firefighters were dispatched to the 200 block of East Emmaus Avenue for a report of a gas leak.
No one was injured, according to authorities.
On arrival Eastern Salisbury Fire Department Chief Ian Dodson found an active gas leak involving multiple homes.
Salisbury Township Police Department officers blocked off intersections in the area and emergency services evacuated the area. Natural gas and electric utility UGI was called and came to the scene.
Allentown police and firefighters assisted with operations at the border with Salisbury Township.
Salisbury Emergency Management coordinated action with all services operating at the incident.
Salisbury Township School District alerted bus traffic in the area. School resource officers responded to assist near Salisbury High School, 500 E. Montgomery St.
East Emmaus Avenue was closed for several hours.
The area was reopened when residences and businesses were determined to be safe.
A damaged outdoor gas line was found to be the cause of the leak, according to authorities.
