Renaissance Home honors Valentine’s Day king, queen

Valentine’s Day is a special annual celebration at the Renaissance Home, 1001 Washington Ave., Northampton. Each year, the staff votes for a Valentine’s Day king and a queen. This year, activity director Gloria Gontkosky announced Dolores “Dee” Kovatch as the queen and Roy Moyer as king.

Kovatch has been a resident since September 2025, and Moyer has been a resident for 11 years.

Kovatch is originally from Alpha, N.J., and she is 91 years old. She owned and operated Dee Ann Powder Puff Hair Salon for more than 50 years. She enjoys sewing and gardening. At one time, she had more than 50 rose bushes.

Moyer is 86 years old and lived in Walnutport. He worked for the city of Allentown streets department for 33 years. He enjoys drawing, fishing and boating on Lake Wynonah. You guessed it — his favorite food is seafood!

The king, queen, their guests and the other residents enjoyed a festive luncheon on this special occasion.

“Every resident at Renaissance is a king or queen every day,” Gontkosky said.
